Sparrows and Apples: The Unity of Catullus 2

Abstract

Following the inclinations of recent critics but attempting to provide further literary arguments and a more satisfactory textual solution than those which have previously been offered in modern scholarship, this r article suggests that 2 and 2b should be treated as a syntactical and thematic unit. The sparrow is a love-gift, and that the Renaissance conjecture tam gratum es should be adopted at 2b1.
