Abstract

This article examines a Greek inscription of the Byzantine period set in a mosaic floor discovered during the 2006 season of excavations at the site in Area O, in the northern part of the Apollonia National Park, in proximity to the excavated areas of the site’s first digs held in 1950. It argues that the current εἷς θεὸς μόνος formula inscription reflects a Samaritan property that went out of use in the contexts of the edicts against the property rights of the Samaritans included in the Novellae enacted during the period of the Samaritan Rebellion (529 CE).
