Main Article Content

Federico Santangelo

Abstract

This paper charts some trends in local historiography during the late Hellenistic period, draws attention to the role that public epigraphy plays in that connection, and shows how competing narratives on recent and contemporary history are articulated through a variety of media and settings. Through the exploration of several case studies from Asia Minor, it brings out the liveliness and complexity of the political and historical debates that unfold as Rome reasserts her hegemony over the Greek East.
