A Propos the New Edition of Euripides’ Troades

Abstract

Three notes on the 1970 Teubner edition of Euripides’ Troades by Werner Biehl. 1) Lines 98-104 are attributed by Stobaeus to the chorus, but he often uses the term “chorus” to mark the non-iambic meter of a passage in tragedy and need not have known the tradition recorded in ms P. 2) The reading βάρος should be preferred over βρέτας in line 12. 3) The edition’s metrical notations are not always consistent and occasionally are misleading.
